Lowe to head up new IPG network

The advertising holding company Interpublic Group is creating a new

network called The Partnership, to be headed by Frank Lowe, the chairman

of The Lowe Group and Lowe Lintas & Partners Worldwide.

The restructure follows the holding company's recent acquisition of True

North Communications. The Partnership, McCann-Erickson, and True North's

FCB Worldwide each become one of IPG's three global networks.

Jerry Judge, Lowe Lintas' worldwide president, will take over as the

chief executive of the agency network. "I've been grooming Jerry. I

first discussed this with him a year ago," Lowe commented.

Tim Lindsay, the European president of Lowe Lintas & Partners, will move

up to Judge's worldwide president role. "Tim has done a very good job

running Europe," Lowe added. "He's seen through all the mergers with the

rest of us. He's worked with Jerry for years and they form a good team.

It seemed obvious by promoting Jerry to promote Tim to take over

responsibility for the rest of international."

"Someone will fill the European role," Lindsay confirmed - but it is

unclear who will take the role of European head of the agency. A

decision is expected within the next month.

The Partnership is principally composed of Lowe Lintas & Partners,

Initiative Media and IPG's recently acquired Deutsch. It will also

include Dailey & Associates, Mullen/LHC, The Martin Agency, Draft

Worldwide, Golin/Harriss and Suissa Miller. Bozell and Avrett Free

Ginsberg are also expected to be folded into the new network.

Frank Lowe is expected to head the new holding company, with True

North's David Bell as the chief executive and Michael Sennott moving

from Lowe Lintas & Partners Worldwide to act in a supporting role.

"An important issue that appears to have been resolved is the power play

between Judge and Sennott as the vice-chairman of the group," one source

admitted. "It's quite an important thing for Lowe and Judge that Sennott

appears to be being moved slightly out of the way."
