MacManus, which is the holding company for NW Ayer & Partners, DMB&B and MediaVest, will continue to operate the agency as an independent unit. It will report directly to Roy Bostock, chairman and chief executive of MacManus in New York.

Kaplan Thaler was founded in September 1997 by the creative veteran, Linda Kaplan Thaler. The agency's clients include Bristol-Myers Squibb, for which it handles Clairol Herbal Essences and five other Clairol brands.

Prior to launching her own shop, Kaplan Thaler worked at J Walter Thompson and the now defunct Wells BDDP as a senior creative.
