Management Today hires Express man Farthing as ad chief

Management Today, Haymarket Business Publications’ flagship

business title, has appointed Daily Star ad chief Andy Farthing to the

newly created role of advertising director.

The position was created by Rufus Olins, publisher of Management Today,

to bring ’the same Fleet Street standards to our sales team that we have

in our editorial’.

Previously, sales was headed by Peter Grant, who has been promoted to

associate publisher of Haymarket’s Human Resources and Horticulture

Week.

Farthing decided to make the move as the job offered a ’much broader

role’. He will report directly to Olins, who he describes as ’the lord

of talent’ and will be in charge of a sales team of eight.

Farthing will join Management Today on 13 July from Express Newspapers,

where he is group head of advertising at the Daily Star. He has worked

there since 1989.

His new role encompasses advertising sales on the magazine and

associated website, conferences and exhibitions.

Management Today recently won the contract to publish a 120-page guide,

in association with Orange, on the future of work.
