Manning Gottlieb OMD celebrates £30m Sony BMG win

Sony BMG, the newly created music group, has handed its £30 million UK media planning and buying account to Manning Gottlieb OMD.

The agency, which was the incumbent on the Sony Music business before the merger with its rival BMG, triumphed in a final head-to-head battle with Vizeum, the BMG incumbent.

Sony BMG called the pitch late last year and initially had a longlist of nine agencies to compete for the business. This was whittled down to four agencies before the final stage between Manning Gottlieb and Vizeum.

The merger of Sony Music and BMG created a company with around one-quarter of global music sales. Its roster of artists includes Britney Spears and Bruce Springsteen.

Nick Manning, the group chief executive of OMD (above), said: "This win is massive for the agency and is testament to the work we've done on the Sony business for the past seven years."
