McCann-Erickson hires creative director for GM Europe account

Bernd Misske, who joins from BBDO New York, will head the creative department at the new Frankfurt offices being set up by McCann to service General Motors across Europe. The new offices will be headed by Garry Neel, a group director at McCann, and will have around 20 staff.

Jim Heekin, McCann's regional director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: "General Motors is going through a significant period of change and growth with expanding needs to maintain its strong position in Europe. It is only natural that we should seek to find the best possible talent to work on this extremely important business."

Misske began his career with Young & Rubicam in Frankfurt before moving to Y&R in Sao Paulo. In 1989, he returned to Frankfurt and, under his creative leadership, Y&R won more Cannes lions in five years than any other German agency.

In 1995, he moved to Hong Kong as regional creative director Asia Pacific for the BBDO network. Two years ago, he assumed the newly-created position of senior creative director for global accounts at BBDO New York.
