McCann-Erickson in Manchester has created the new role of managing

director and handed the post to Sue Little, the former executive

director of its local media arm, Universal McCann.

Little will take over the day-to-day responsibility for running McCanns,

the largest agency outside London. This will enable Brian Child, the

agency’s chief executive, to devote more of his time to strategic

issues.

Little has 20 years’ experience in the ad industry, and has spent most

of her career at McCanns.

She joined in 1985 as a media group head. Her role evolved as the media

function developed - the Universal brand was established in Manchester

in 1990, five years before the name was adopted by the media arm of

McCanns in London.

Universal in Manchester now handles more than pounds 70 million in

billings from clients that include Great Universal Stores, Next, Magnet

and Girobank.

Child said: ’I’m delighted Sue will be taking the helm at such an

important time.’
