MEC:Sponsorship raids Eurosport for London director

LONDON - MEC:Sponsorship, the sponsorship division of Mediaedge:cia, has appointed Martin Johnston as a director of its international headquarters in London.

Johnston joins from British Eurosport where he was head of communications. He has 13 years' experience in sponsorship and sports marketing, and joins MEC:Sponsorship with a brief to develop the business worldwide.

Jeremy Clark, the managing director of MEC:Sponsorship, said: "Martin's diverse experience across all areas of the sponsorship industry, including federation, media owner and brand consultancy will be invaluable to the continued development of our offer to clients."

Johnston added: "It is an exciting time for the sponsorship industry as a whole and MEC:Sponsorship is well placed to offer integrated sponsorship for its existing clients, whether local or multi-market. I wanted to be part of that process of building MEC clients' brands through innovative sponsorship solutions."
