Media Insight has named 29-year-old Toby Jenner as managing
director after Kevin Grand announced he was quitting the agency.
Grand has left Media Insight to set up his own media company although
the exact details of the project are still under wraps.
Jenner, his replacement, was previously media account director at Media
Insight, which is a sister agency to MindShare.
The new managing director joined the agency four years ago from MediaCom
TMB, where he handled a range of accounts including Smith-Kline Beecham
and Warner Brothers.
Since joining Media In-sight he has worked on the agency’s major
accounts including Telewest, Focus Do-It-All, the internet service
provider Chello Broadband and the ’enterprise revenue planning’ company
SAP. The agency lost the pounds 5 million account for the pan-European
internet bank First-e to BMP Solutions at the beginning of this
Now Jenner has taken over the reins he is keen to expand Media Insight
and raise the media shop’s profile within the industry.
His first task is to recruit two senior business directors to work under
him, as well as hiring another planner/buyer which would push staff
numbers to around 16.
’I’m employing at a rate of knots,’ said Jenner. ’We haven’t got a bad
client list and we want to get good people.’
Grand headed Media Insight since it was first launched in 1994 to handle
planning, buying and administration of all of Ogilvy & Mather’s outdoor
work. A year later, the WPP-owned agency was launched as a full service
planning and buying shop.
Mandy Pooler, chief executive of MindShare and chairman of Media
Insight, commented on the management changes: ’Toby’s appointment
signals a real change for Media Insight.’
