Media-only Business Performance League July 1996

The pitch of the month, for Barclays Bank’s media centralisation, hasn’t

exactly shaken up our new-business league table.

The pitch, which is likely to be one of the biggest in the media

industry this year, saw the Media Centre scoop the entire pounds 18

million account, but, since it already handles around two thirds of the

business, the win did little more than nudge TMC into the table.

The main loser in the pitch, Mediastar, drops from eighth place to 24th.

The Barclays pitch was kinder to Optimedia, which emerged with the

pounds 4 million Mercantile Credit account as a consolation prize.

The top of the table remains fairly static, although BMP DDB has pulled

clear of the Media Business and Manning Gottlieb Media after a handful

of smaller wins, such as the Ministry of Sound.

However, the best performance this time round came from TMD Manchester,

which pulled in a bumper crop of wins to race up the table from 21st

to seventh place.

1 Why creative people have lost their way

What better way to kick off Campaign's relaunch than with another think piece on the current failings of our industry, written by an embittered, pretentious creative who misses "the way things used to be"...
