Media Planning Group has poached Jeani Rodgers, a partner at HHCL & Partners, to become the director of innovation in the agency's strategic planning unit Catalyst. Rodgers will take over from Simon Sadie who moves to become the managing director of the interactive unit Media Contacts.
Rodgers' career has involved several different marketing disciplines. She worked at the PR agencies Freud Communications and Jackie Cooper PR before moving to HHCL's non-advertising communication division HHCL EM in 1997. Rodgers' responsibilities included advertiser-funded TV and radio programming and film investment.
At Media Planning she will work alongside Phil Danter and Marie Oldham, the managing partners with responsibility for strategy, and Denise Gardner, who heads the insight and effectiveness division. The profile of the London office's Catalyst unit was raised when Oldham was poached from BBC Worldwide and Gardner moved across from Starcom Motive last year. Havas' acquisition of the Spanish Media Planning Group earlier this month paved the way for the unit to be rolled out to other Media Planning offices.
'MPG is very interested in recruiting from outside traditional media disciplines to complement our skills,' Media Planning's managing director, Marc Mendoza, said. 'We intend to allow Jeani to explore new areas of communication.'
Rodgers said: 'I am truly sorry to leave such a brilliant and creative environment but I am very excited to join Catalyst/MPG.'
