MediaCom and AMV lead Top 300 media and creative tables

Although there was little change among the top ten creative agencies, with Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO remaining in first place, 2003 was the year of the independents.

Campaign's Top 300 shows Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy, Clemmow Hornby Inge and Vallance Carruthers Coleman Priest breaking through the top 30 barrier.

Larger independents Mother and Delaney Lund Knox Warren & Partners saw their billings grow by 163 per cent and 41 per cent respectively.

J. Walter Thompson moved up the table from eighth to third, while Lowe saw its billings drop by 20 per cent and fell from third to ninth place.

It was all change for the top five media agencies with MediaCom, led by the chief executive, Steve Allan, taking the top spot.

ZenithOptimedia's fall to second place is striking given its seemingly unassailable position at the top of the table last year. Carat slipped down to fourth behind MindShare, which continued to rise up the tables.
