MediaVest picks up pounds 3m media task for Chrysalis' Heart FM

Chrysalis Radio Group is to review the pounds 3 million creative

account for its Heart radio brand after appointing Media-Vest to the

media account.

The move comes three months after the departure of Walker Media's

managing partner, Andrew Sherman, to MediaVest as the joint deputy

managing director.

Sherman had handled the Heart business while at Walker.

Walker was handed the media business in 1998, after Chrysalis decided to

move the brand's full-service brief out of Leo Burnett. Elliot Borra

Perlmutter, which picked up the creative account at the time, is facing

the creative review.

"We are delighted to be working with Heart," Sherman said. "We are

looking forward to making a contribution in building on the station's

success."

Heart 106.2 boasts 1.5 million listeners in London, second only to

Capital FM in the commercial radio market. Heart FM is the leading

station in its Midlands transmission area, with more than 800,000

listeners.

Its total number of weekly listeners was down slightly year on year for

the first quarter of 2001 to 2.27 million.

"We were very impressed with the MediaVest offering," Steve Parkinson,

the group marketing director for Chrysalis Radio and managing director

for Heart, said. "They demonstrated a clear understanding of our

business needs and have a strong track record in the commercial radio

market."
