Mike Cozens, the creative director of Young & Rubicam Europe, is

leaving this week after more than six years at the agency.

Cozens was the creative director of Young & Rubicam London at the time

of its merger with Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe in August 1999.

Following the merger, the creative reins at the London office were taken

up by Mark Roalfe and Robert Campbell, while Cozens moved up to a

European role.

Cozens, who will not be replaced, plans to set up as an ’independent

creative resource’. He said: ’The past six months have been very

interesting but they have helped me to come to the conclusion that what

I’m best at - and prefer - is either crafting campaigns or running an

agency department.’

In his new venture, Cozens, a copywriter, hopes to work with a variety

of other creatives as well as nurturing new talent. He will continue to

work on projects with Y&R.
