million European launch task for Self Trade, the online personal trading

service.



The agency pitched against HHCL & Partners and one other unnamed agency

for the site, which is expected to launch in April this year.



Miles Calcraft will work on a TV, print and poster branding campaign

which is expected to break in the UK in the spring and then roll out to

France and Germany.



Self Trade was founded by Peter Boucher, a former Unilever marketing

director, who is also looking for a direct marketing and public

relations agency to complete his marketing line-up.



Self Trade will be positioned as the cheapest and quickest in its

sector.



It is the latest launch in a market that is threatening the future of

traditional stockbrokers - online trading enables individuals to simply

check a share price and key in ’buy’ or ’sell’ to secure a deal.



One of Self Trade’s biggest rivals will be Charles Schwab, the world’s

biggest internet stockbroker, which recently appointed Abbott Mead

Vickers BBDO and New PHD to create a TV campaign. The sector is becoming

increasingly competitive as companies such as Goldfish, Egg and Fidelity

Investment Services launch similar sites.



Both Jeremy Miles, chairman of Miles Calcraft, and Boucher were

unavailable for comment as Campaign went to press.
