MindShare loses research chief

- James Walker the worldwide chairman of MindShare's research and consultancy unit, the Advanced Technologies Group, is leaving the agency to launch a new independent media and marketing company.

- James Walker the worldwide chairman of MindShare's research and consultancy unit, the Advanced Technologies Group, is leaving the agency to launch a new independent media and marketing company.

Walker's new company, Edge Marketing, will work with clients in applying sophisticated quantitative tools to analyse advertising and media, pricing, distribution and new product development strategies.

Partnering Walker in Edge Marketing are ex Henley Centre consultants Steve Maughan and Glenn Granger. They will work alongside Jose Goncalves, who ran an international consultancy business in marketing analysis called Edge Consulting.

Walker worked with Maughan and Granger at the Henley Centre, where he was director of media prior to joining J.Walter Thompson as media development director in 1995.

MindShare, the Henley Centre and JWT are owned by the WPP Group.
