MindShare has recruited its first worldwide new business director, raiding rival Carat International to appoint Kirk McPherson to the role.
McPherson is currently head of new business at Carat International, but has been placed on gardening leave until the beginning of next year, when he will officially join MindShare.
He has been at Carat International for over four years, steering cross-border wins such as Phillips and Adidas. He joined the international operation from Carat London, where he was head of new business for over three years.
McPherson said the new MindShare role offered both a fresh challenge and the chance to help build the world's largest media operation. "MindShare is a hugely successful company," McPherson explained, "but there is still work to be done. Now the company wants to grow its business base to take it onto the next level. It's clearly our goal to be the number one media company in the world."
At MindShare McPherson will report to Dominic Proctor, MindShare Worldwide's chief executive. He will be based in London but will have a remit that spans all MindShare territories.
MindShare currently has over 80 offices worldwide, though not all are yet branded MindShare, and total global billings of $1.65 billion. Recent international wins include Unilever in Germany and Italy. The network currently has around 25 multi-territory clients, but Proctor has made it a goal to develop more international business.
