MindShare’s Emery takes global role

MindShare, the WPP media operation which officially opens its doors

for business this week, has promoted Nick Emery to head its global

development strategy alongside the chief operating officer, Dominic

Proctor.

Emery was previously the deputy managing director of the Network Europe,

the Ogilvy & Mather media shop which is merging with its sister media

operation from J. Walter Thompson to form the MindShare brand.

Emery will take on the new role of strategic development partner,

MindShare Worldwide, working alongside Proctor on the implementation of

the MindShare proposition around the world. The role will encompass

interpreting and adapting the MindShare philosophy of being ’the house

of media’ to each local market’s requirements, as well as planning the

way the media brand works with other parts of the WPP empire and with

outside companies.

Emery said the task would include ’looking at how we plan and buy, how

we integrate add-on media services into that core proposition, which

sort of operations we need to develop, which ones we should be

developing strategic alliances with and so on’.

He will also continue to have specific client responsibilities,

including working for Sony Playstation and IBM across Europe.

Proctor said of Emery: ’He’s got an incredibly imaginative approach to

media, which is not restricted by convention. His role will be to define

the breadth of our offering by looking at media more broadly than anyone

else. He will drive our proposition forward.’

At the same time, Proctor’s position in MindShare Europe has been

further clarified. Proctor, the former JWT London chief executive, will

now take charge of MindShare’s European development, with JWT’s European

media chief, Ron de Pear, and the Network’s European head, Michael

Quilty, jointly taking charge of worldwide and regional business

development.

1 Why creative people have lost their way

What better way to kick off Campaign's relaunch than with another think piece on the current failings of our industry, written by an embittered, pretentious creative who misses "the way things used to be"...
