Mirage Resorts names GSD&M to creative account

- Las Vegas hotel and casino group, Mirage Resorts, has appointed GSD&M Advertising to its estimated $50 million (£30 million) creative advertising account after talks with a number of agencies.

Mirage launched the review after recently parting company with Publicis & Hal Riney in San Francisco. GSD&M, which is based in Austin, Texas, will begin work on the business when Publicis' contract expires at the end of January.

Mirage is understood to have held talks with the Richards Group, Dallas, TBWA Chiat/Day in Playa del Rey, California, and Deutsch in New York. Media buying remains unaffected with Western International Media, Los Angeles.

The Mirage business includes the Bellagio, Golden Nugget, Treasure Island and Mirage in Las Vegas and the new Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi.

GSD&M's other clients include Southwest Airlines, Wal-Mart, MasterCard International, Pennzoil, Southwest Airlines, Southwestern Bell and the PGA Tour
