Judy Mitchem, the business development director at Rainey Kelly

Campbell Roalfe/Y&R, is leaving to become the new-business director at

M&C Saatchi.

Mitchem moved into new business nearly two years ago, having joined

Rainey Kelly as its first account director. Over the past year, the

agency has won accounts totalling more than pounds 16 million, including

Quorn, Millennium Gift Aid, Energy Efficiency and Virgin Mobile. It has

also been on many pitchlists, including Sega and the National Dairy

Council, this year.

’This is a senior appointment,’ Moray MacLennan, the joint chief

executive of M&C Saatchi, said. ’We needed someone strong enough to keep

all the partners in place and who is genuinely at ease with the agency.

Judy is energetic, self-confident and has good strategic and

account-handling skills.’

’I was bowled over by this opportunity. No other agency could boast the

drive and dynamism of M&C Saatchi,’ Mitchem said.

Even though M&C Saatchi is number two in Campaign’s new-business league,

with wins this year totalling pounds 82 million, MacLennan stressed: ’It

is important to remain committed and keep the momentum going. Despite

our record, we are still healthily paranoid.’
