Cowles will be responsible for the strategic development of new magazine and online concepts, as well as the re-development of existing IPC titles. He is also charged with building editorial and design training programmes for IPC staff. Cowles will work closely with the IPC Media board, publishing and editorial teams, and report to the IPC Media chief executive, Sylvia Auton. His career includes stints as the art director on a range of titles, including Q, Mojo and Empire. Cowles also spent three years in the US as the creative director on Conde Nast's Mademoiselle and as the art director of Rolling Stone. He joined IPC in 2004 as its creative director.
IPC Media has appointed Andy Cowles to the role of editorial development director.
