Movers and shakers: General Mills, Vice Media, Paddy Power Betfair, McCann and more

Welcome to Campaign's weekly round-up of the hires, departures and promotions across the industry.

Ivan Pollard has been appointed global chief marketing officer of General Mills. Pollard was previously vice-president, strategic marketing at Coca-Cola. He starts on 10 July and will report to chief executive Jeff Harmening.

Paul Hammersley, the former chief executive at DDB and Cheil, is setting up Harbour, an agency collective of independent shops that intend to "level the playing field" and compete against holding companies.

The group has seven founding agencies including George & Dragon, Goodstuff, Oliver and Talon. Hammersley said more agencies will be joining during the next few months.

Bloomberg has hired Stephanie Flanders, the chief market strategist for JPMorgan Asset Management in London, to lead a new unit called Bloomberg Economics. Flanders starts in October and will be based in London. She will report directly to editor in chief of Bloomberg News and Reto Gregori, the deputy editor in chief.

Vice Media, has hired Rob Newlan as chief executive officer, EMEA of its global creative agency Virtue Worldwide. He will report into Matt Elek, the chief executive officer, Vice Media, EMEA, and joins as the group prepares to launch in the Middle East and India this summer.

Paul Mallon has been promoted to the role of head of major brand activations for both Paddy Power and Betfair. He will be responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of major brand projects, domestically and internationally.

Time Out Digital has appointed Lawrence Horne as commercial MD, EMEA, where he will oversee advertising across Time Out's multiple platforms. He will report directly to Justin Etheridge, chief revenue officer of Time Out Digital.

McCann Manchester has appointed Simon Buchanan and Richard Aldiss as joint managing directors. Both will report into chief executive Sue Little.

Buchanan will be responsible for the agency’s Aldi business. Aldiss takes on the agency’s main client base including Smyths Toys, Harveys, Shire, CrossCountry Trains and cottages.com.

Nicky Holt has been named group commercial director at Bauer Specialist. She will be responsible for identifying new cross-platform and creative revenue streams across Bauer Media’s 43 specialist titles, which include Angling Times, Motor Cycle News and Modern Gardening.

Digital marketing services group Be Heard has appointed Richard Costa-D'Sa chief growth officer. Costa-D'Sa has previously held senior roles within the Engine Group, most recently as global CEO of Deep Focus. He was also managing director of Jam.

The London office of Engine's LA based Entertainment specialist Trailer Park has announced two new hires. Adam Booth takes the newly created role of executive producer, and Leo Birch joins as content strategist.

Global tyre manufacturer Maxxis has recently appointed a new marketing manager, Nikki McCluney. She is a former employee of Goodyear Dunlop.

Harman Randhawa has joined integrated marketing agency Bigdog as associate director. Randhawa reports into managing director, Ross Faulkner. 

Blackwood Seven has announced two new appointments to its leadership team. Nick Stoltz joins as chief operating officer, North America, and Stanlei Bellan has been named general manager, West Coast. They will both report into Mark Zamuner, Blackwood Seven's CEO, North America.

Creative agency Space has appointed former J. Walter Thompson creatives Naz Nazli and Alex Ball as creative heads. They will report into Greg McAlinden, creative director.
