Movers and shakers: Mcgarrybowen, Atom Bank, Countrywide, John Brown and more

DFS CMO Helen Normoyle has left the furniture retailer to become CMO at property service company Countrywide. Before joining DFS in 2012, Normoyle was director of audiences and then director of marketing at the BBC.

Mcgarrybowen has poached Bartle Bogle Hegarty's Jason Gonsalves to be its new UK chief executive. Gonsalves is currently the chief strategy officer at BBH London, where he has worked for ten years. He replaces Rick Hirst, who will become chief executive of Carat UK.

The UK’s first digital-only bank, Atom Bank, has expanded its marketing team with the hire of Aviva’s head of marketing, Neil Costello. He takes on the same role at Aviva, reporting into chief marketing officer Lisa Wood.

John Brown Media, the content agency bought by Dentsu Aegis Network last year, has hired the former i newspaper editor Stefano Hatfield to be its first global editorial director as it seeks to further expand around the world. Hatfield has also edited News UK’s now defunct free title thelondonpaper, and has worked as editorial director at London Live. Most recently he was the editor of High50, an online magazine for people aged over 50.

Chris Shumaker, FCB’s chief marketing officer for North America, has been promoted to the network’s global chief marketer. Shumaker first joined FCB in 2006, before it merged with Draft, and was its global marketing office, but left in 2007 to join Publicis in 2007. Shumaker rejoined FCB in 2013.

Will Hanmer-Lloyd, group account director at Source, Blue 449’s insight division, has joined Total Media in the new role of behavioural planner. Hanmer-Lloyd will be responsible for delivering the behavioural training programme, which includes understanding how to use behavioural economics, neuroscience and ethnology in media planning.

Verbalisation, the strategic marketing agency, which prides itself on its military contacts and use of psychological warfare methods, has hired Toby Green as global client services director from Adam & Eve/DDB and Mark Leigh joins as chief strategy officer from Leo Burnett Worldwide.

Base One, part of the Gravytrain Group, has appointed Alfredo Navarrete-Villanueva as executive creative director. Navarrete-Villanueva has worked with brands including Bloomberg TV, Petronas and Malaysia Airlines.
