Sales house Essential Media, whose clients include Scottish Media
Newspapers, the Weekly Telegraph, and Marvel Comics publisher Panini,
has promoted Mark Anscomb to group sales manager to oversee its
ten-strong sales team. Anscomb joined Essential Media in July 1999
following eight years at The Daily Telegraph and a spell in recruitment
In his new role, he will report to joint managing directors Penny Lee
and Karen O’Sullivan.
River Publishing has taken on Richard Poole as ad manager on its Virgin
Atlantic media portfolio. Poole joins River from Arts Publishing where
he spent four years, most recently as ad director. Davies will report to
Gareth Davies, head of marketing and sales, who joined the company early
in January this year. He will also work closely with Trevor Kalinowsky,
who was recently appointed sales executive.
Gruner & Jahr has promoted Sian Roberts to ad manager of Best. Roberts
was previously a senior sales executive on the magazine and before that
worked as a senior sales executive on Prima. David Parker has been
promoted from senior sales executive on Prima to ad manager on Your
Kevin Spencer, sales manager for Entrepreneur North-West, has been
promoted to business development manager for the 11 regional editions of
the magazine. Spencer has been at the Excel Publishing Company, which
produces the Entrepreneur titles, for three years. As business
development manager he will report directly to publisher and managing
director Patrick Rafter.
New Media Marketing & Sales, which has been rebranded Adlink (see story,
this page), has recruited two sales people. James Peel joins the company
as senior sales executive from Carlton Digital where he spent 14 months
as an account executive. Darren Davidson has also joined Adlink as a
sales executive after three-and-a-half years at Granada Media.
Universal Studios Networks UK has promoted Jamie West to head of
advertising sales. West was previously account director for the Sci-Fi
IPC tx has appointed Andrew Davis to publishing manager of TV Times and
What’s on TV. Davis joined IPC Magazines in September 1993 as a graduate
trainee, before moving to the circulation department in 1995 where he
worked in the Connect and SouthBank divisions.
In 1998, he became circulation manager for IPC tx. Davis takes up his
new role on 14 February and will report to IPC tx managing director
Rachel Davis, ex-associate director of Mansfield Laing Direct Media, has
jumped ship to join below-the-line social and charity agency Burnett
Associates as its head of media. Burnett Associates’ clients include
Greenpeace, the National Trust and the Co-operative Bank.
Kathleen Saxton, account manager in client sales at Carlton Screen
Advertising, has quit the company to join media agency New PHD. Saxton
will join as new-business development manager in April. She will replace
Mike Anderson, who left the agency last year to join Associated
