Simon Hamer has been appointed ad director of Home, published by Orpington-based SPL. Hamer started his career on VNU’s computing titles and became launch ad manager of Rodale’s Men’s Health in 1996. He later moved to Mollin Publishing to become group ad director for Shape, Men’s Fitness and Jump. Hamer joins Home a year after its launch. The title had a January-December 1999 ABC figure of 68,400.

BBC Good Food Magazine has appointed Lorna Ko to the position of deputy

advertisement manager. She was previously senior sales executive on BBC

Homes & Antiques. Ko is currently BBC Worldwide’s sales person of the

year. In her new role, she will report to Hayley Granston, group ad

manager for the BBC Food Group - Lifestyle.





Future Publishing has promoted Claire Eastwood to advertisement manager

on PlayStation Power. She was previously deputy ad manager on Computer

Arts and Computer Publishing, part of the Leisure and Creative Computing

division. Future has also promoted Francis Morgan to key account manager

on the PSX titles. He moves from the Sports and Entertainment division,

where he was key account manager on Mountain Biking UK and What Mountain

Bike? Dan Robinson joins the company from the regional press to take up

a role as senior sales executive on GamesMaster and Arcade.





Guardian Newspapers has appointed Rebecca Davies marketing manager for

The Observer. Davies joins The Observer from Leo Burnett, where she was

an account director, working on the UDV and Heinz accounts. She will

work with Observer assistant brand manager Daniel Jamieson.





More Group has appointed Lindsay Farrar strategic planner. She joins the

company from News International, where she was advertising planner. In

this newly created position within the marketing department, Farrar will

work closely with the sales teams and research department. Reporting to

research manager Sally Gibson, Farrar’s role will be to provide ideas

and solutions for future business and research planning needs.





IPC Southbank has taken on three sales people. Sarah Procter and Sally

Whitworth will work on Mizz and 19 as sales executives. Procter joins

from the Publishing Consultancy, while Whitworth moves from Centaur.

Nicola Morey, who will work as a senior sales executive on Woman’s

Journal, joins IPC from Emap Elan.





Dennis Publishing has promoted Mike Shepherd to advertisement manager of

Computer Shopper. Shepherd has been the deputy ad manager on the

magazine since July 1999 and has worked at Dennis for seven years.

Shepherd will oversee a team of eight, including George Haynes and Clair

Tamsett, who recently joined as sales executives.





Financial recruitment consultancy Hitchenor Maher Group has launched a

sales and marketing division. Specialising in placing sales and

marketing professionals throughout the North, the new division is headed

by recruitment consultant David Simpson, who joins as manager.
