Hachette Fillipachi Global Advertising has appointed Julian Barrett
international sales manager. Barrett joins from BBC Worldwide Publishing
where he was international advertisement manager of BBC Music Magazine.
His background includes four years on the agency sales team at Express
Newspapers and two years at the National Magazine Company. In his new
role, Barrett will work across a portfolio that includes European
business, men’s interest, news and TV listings titles, including Le
Point, Le Journal du Dimanche, Paris Match and Tele 7 Jours. He will
report to UK sales director Eva Twine. Hachette is responsible for more
than 30 country-specific editions of Elle worldwide.
The Independent has recruited Louise Cribbs as group head of the general
classified team. Cribbs moves to the newspaper from SPL Publishing,
where she was classified advertisement manager on Home magazine. The
Independent has also made two internal promotions. Alex Pryor and Sam
Gell both become sales executives on the agency sales team. Before their
promotions, Gell was the field sales executive on the public sector
division and Pryor was recruitment consultancy executive.
Attic Futura has promoted Sugar’s Claire Landels. She moves from her
current position as senior sales executive to become deputy
advertisement manager on the teenage magazine. She continues to report
to advertisement manager Lisa Ford. Attic has also taken on two sales
executives. Nina Bual joins the Inside Soap and All About Soap team from
the Builder Group, and will report to advertisement manager Jason
McInnes. Ben Cotton will work as a classified sales executive across
Attic’s monthly magazines, and will report to classified ad manager Ian
Carat has recruited Julia Beck as group managing director of its
European new-media arm Carat Interactive. Beck joins Carat after five
years with Gemini Consulting , where she was a principle consultant.
Before that she worked for Smithkline Beecham.
Sophie Hind, ex-commercial director of recruitment consultancy Lipton
Fleming, has taken a position at Fox Haynes. Hind, who spent two years
at Lipton Fleming, will not have a job title in her new role but will
concentrate on placing candidates in the booming new-media and digital
sectors of the media sales industry.
Future Publishing has appointed Clare Harper ad manager on PC Format.
Harper moves internally from her previous role as advertisement manager
on Future’s N64 Nintendo World. In her new role, Harper will report to
Jane Capell, group advertisement manager for the computing titles.
Future has also recruited two sales people. Eric Weston joins as sales
executive on the Official PlayStation Magazine, while Rachel Charlton
joins as sales executive on PC Gamer.
Tri-Direct, the direct response media company, has recruited David Dent
as strategic planning director. Dent moves from his previous position as
media manager at Leagas Delaney. Before that he worked at Saatchi &
Saatchi and as a media strategist at HHCL & Partners.
