The Davis Company has taken on two consultants. Clairedy Gardiner-Hyne

has regional and consumer press experience, gained at Northcliffe

Newspapers, the BBC and Mongoose. Nick O’Connor has a background in IT

media sales having worked at FT Magazines and Caspian Publishing.



CIA Medianetwork’s new UK chief executive, David Wheldon, is to join the

board of Tempus, CIA’s parent company. Before he joined CIA, Wheldon was

president of BBDO Europe. He began his career at Saatchi & Saatchi, and

has since worked at WCRS, Lowe Howard-Spink, and Coca-Cola.



Mark Speirs, formerly sales manager of VNU, has been appointed business

development manager for TMP Worldwide, the recruitment advertising

agency.



Speirs will focus on developing web-based media solutions for the

graduate and IT recruitment sectors.



The Times Supplements has appointed David St John Tradewell and Nicolas

Hajdu as senior sales executives on the paper’s educational internet

service provider, learnfree.co.uk. The ISP is free of charge and was

launched on the back of the Times Education Supplement.



Capital Radio has hired James Fairclough as marketing executive for

Capital Gold. Fairclough will manage the brand from 25 October, when he

moves from his position as assistant brand manager for Procter &

Gamble’s Pringles crisp range.



Stuart Forrest has joined Haymarket’s Classic & Sports Car as

advertisement manager. Forrest previously worked at The Lawyer where he

was display advertisement manager.



Total Media Group has hired Melissa Donnelly as its first dedicated

agency marketing manager. She will be responsible for marketing and

developing new business for the group.



Interfocus has recruited Ian Farmer as head of business development.



Farmer joins the full-service agency from New PHD where he was business

development manager.



Maiden Outdoor has promoted marketing group head Juan Perez to marketing

manager. Perez, who has been at Maiden for five years, will be

responsible for continuing the company’s drive into new-media and

point-of-sale advertising.



Correction. Anita Strymowicz, managing director of Soho PR, is not

leaving the company as reported last week. Strymowicz, who numbered Emap

among her accounts, will set up Soho PR in Soho, Manhattan, in a move to

expand her company.
