The Evening Standard’s classified advertisement director Sally Smith has been promoted to group classified ad director for Associated Newspapers. Smith, who has been in her current position for three years, has been responsible for the launch of several classified sections including Just the Job, PS, Homes & Property and the BigBlueDog.com jobs site. She will now have full responsibility for the classified departments of the Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, Evening Standard and Metro.

departments of the Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, Evening Standard and

Metro.





OMD UK has taken on 11 staff following a number of new-business wins and

the expansion of existing clients’ portfolios. Rory Lindsay joins from

MindShare and will work on Boo.com, the Meat and Livestock Commission

and MoneyExtra. Richard Murkin, who moves from Bates UK, will work on

Barclaycard and St Ivel. Faye Campbell, who joins from Carat, will work

on Vodafone; Gillian Huber from BBJ will cover Boots; Daniel Solomons

from Initiative will work on Benckiser, and Jessica Hayes, formerly at

Unity, will handle Compaq. The remaining five recruits are all recent

graduates. They are Howard Watson, Mark Pinney, Annika Broden, Beatrice

Boue and Edouard Kirk.





JC Decaux subsidiary David Allen, the largest Irish outdoor media owner,

has announced the appointment of Niamh Cleary as managing director.

Cleary replaces Roisin O’Boyle, who has resigned from the company after

eight years in order to spend more time with her family. David Allen was

acquired by JC Decaux in 1999 and is developing a number of products

specifically for the Irish market.





Emap Elan’s head of advertising research Aida Muirhead is taking on a

new role in the Elan Network. She will be responsible for project

development, researching new projects and providing business

intelligence. Muirhead will report to marketing director Kerry Tasker.

Sylvia Haghian, also a former member of Elan’s ad research team, will

move across with Muirhead. The rest of her team will be absorbed into

the Emap restructure.





C&B Communications, the contract publishing company, has announced the

appointment of two ad sales managers to work across its expanding

Employee & Customer magazine division. Gaynor Garton and Mohammed Mawji

both join Employee & Customer from TG Scott, where Garton was group

display advertisement manager and Mawji was advertisement manager.





Profero, the online media agency, has taken on Lisa McCracken as a

planner/buyer. McCracken joins the company from MediaVest, where she was

also a planner/buyer. In her new role, she will work initially on the

QXL.com and Central Office of Information accounts.





Independent international IT media specialist DWA has hired Hannah

Bowden as an account executive. Bowden joins DWA from IT company

Congress, where she was responsible for helping promote US technology

start-ups across Europe. She will be responsible for accounts that

include the IT vendors Brocade, NPI and Microtest, and will assist with

new-business development.
