Starcom Motive has hired Robert Sue as international planner/buyer
to handle the Polaroid, Motorola, Converse and Hoverspeed accounts. He
joins from Saatchi & Saatchi in Wellington, New Zealand. Sue started at
Saatchis in 1996 as a media assistant and worked on the Castrol, Nike,
NZ Lotteries, Telecom NZ and the NZ Symphony Orchestra accounts.
Opus radio sales has recruited two sponsorship and promotions executives
to work on its Classic FM account. Lydia Sanders from JC Decaux and
Rachel Linnell from Latitude CbH Marketing will work in the expanded
sponsorship division headed by Dominic Barker.
Express Newspapers is beefing up its strategic planning team by hiring
Judith Evans and Matt Goreph. Evans previously worked in the display
sales department of The Express, while Goreph joins from MediaVest where
he worked as a senior planner.
Centaur Publishing has restructured its sales team. Nick Collins has
been promoted to sales manager, Lucy Sullivan from Advanstar
Communications takes on the role of commercial manager and Barney
Pearson from The Independent joins the display sales department.
Diane Dunlea from Caspian Publishing has been promoted from senior sales
executive on Real Business magazine to advertisement manager on Business
Voice. She is looking to expand the department by recruiting sales
Lycos UK has hired three sales executives. Gianfranco Ludovici
previously held a sales position in the airline industry, while Orlando
Venn and Tom Baker join as graduates.
Charlie Oakman and David Owen have been promoted to team leaders at The
Independent where they will be working on the Education magazine. Oakman
joined The Independent eight months ago from Maiden Outdoor and Owen has
worked at the paper for four-and-a-half years.
John Brown Publishing has appointed Michael Stanton group advertising
manager, working on the Ikea and Orange customer magazines. Stanton
joins from Redwood where he was advertisement manager on the Dulux,
Britannia Building Society and AA Membership titles.
CIA Media Solutions in Manchester has recruited Cherry Jackson and Helen
Wallace-Edwards into its planning/buying departments. Jackson started
her career at Carat Manchester and Helen Wallace-Edwards joins from
Granada Mediasales has promoted Tony Mawer to sales research and
planning manager. Mawer launched his career at Carat Insight four years
ago before moving to MediaCom and then Granada.
Jamie Bill is to replace Debbie Gresty as publisher of Conde Nast
Traveller. Gresty has decided to retire at the end of July, having
worked at Conde Nast for 14 years. Jamie Bill joins from House Beautiful
where he was publishing director. He has also been publisher of Harpers
& Queen and Esquire and associate publisher of Country Living.
