MPG lands £2m Wrangler media planning and buying

LONDON - Wrangler, the jeans brand owned by VF Corp, has appointed MPG to handle its ?£2 million UK media planning and buying account.

The agency was appointed after a pitch process. Wrangler's previous agency was Mediaedge:cia.

MPG has been appointed ahead of advertising activity, around a press campaign, which is set to break in the UK to support the brand. The French creative agency Fred Farid Lambert has developed creative work using the line: "We are animals."

Wrangler, which did not advertise in the UK last year, is looking to raise awareness of its Flare fashion range.

The jeans brand has a long heritage of strong creative work, having picked up a silver Lion at Cannes in 1998 for Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO's Spike Jonze "rodeo" ad.

The latest creative will move away from the Western theme used to promote Wrangler in the past.

Marc Mendoza, the managing partner of MPG, said: "Wrangler has a huge global presence and we will be part of helping the brand reach even higher heights."
