Also promoted in the reshuffle is Jeremy Tester, another media director, who becomes the client services director -- another first for the agency. To complete the moves, Newl Southwell will become the new finance director, replacing Pippa Smith who has left to join CIA.

David Pattison, the chief executive of New PHD, explained that the restructure, with the creation of the new roles, was necessary due to the growth of the agency, which has now reached 200 staff and has nine subsidiary businesses.

Until the promotions, the day-to-day management roles had been split between Pattison and his two managing partners, Nick Horswell and Jonathan Durden. However, Pattison was keen to point out that this would not result in the three partners taking a back seat role.

"We are adding to the management resource, rather than replacing it," he explained. "We have made Jon and Morag joint managing directors because there are areas that we need help on -- internal, structural issues, all the things necessary to make the New PHD product as good as it possibly can be."

Jeremy Tester has served the longest amount of time at the agency, having been at Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO for ten years before its media department was merged with PHD to form New PHD. Blazey came through the PHD route, which she joined in 1993, and Wilkins has been at the agency for three years, having joined from BMP Optimum, as it was then known.
