NEWS: BBJ Media Services scoops centralised Matthew Clark task

Matthew Clark Taunton has slashed its media roster by centralising its multi-million pound planning and buying business into BBJ Media Services.

Matthew Clark Taunton has slashed its media roster by centralising its

multi-million pound planning and buying business into BBJ Media

Services.

The move was sparked by Matthew Clark’s pounds 275 million takeover of

Taunton Cider in November.

Zenith Media handled brands such as K Cider, Babycham, Gaymers Olde

English and Country Manor, while TMD Carat was the incumbent on Stones

Ginger Wine and Old England Sherry. Miller Genuine Draft remains

unaffected.

BBJ already handled the media business for Diamond White and Dry

Blackthorn, worth about pounds 2 million. The client has indicated that

it will be spending more on its brands in 1996.

Mike Ader, the marketing director at Matthew Clark, said: ‘My philosophy

is to have single agencies that are external partners and experts in

their areas.’

BBJ’s managing director, Jerry Buhlmann, said: ‘Matthew Clark has shown

a real commitment in supporting its brands and we are looking forward to

helping it achieve its goals.’

The media rethink comes in the same week that Grey Advertising picked up

the pooled creative assignment across the portfolio of brands, kicking

Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe, Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Butterfield Day

Devito Hockney and GGT off the roster.
