BMP DDB Needham is stepping up its new-business drive by raiding Collett

Dickenson Pearce for its new-business director.

The agency has poached David Kean from CDP, where he has been in charge

of new business for the past 18 months.

Kean, whose official title at BMP is board account director for new

business, has been briefed to focus the agency’s new-business efforts,

after a disappointing run in 1995.

Kean said: ‘There is some fantastic business out there and we have a lot

to shoot for. I have always wanted to work at BMP and I am delighted to

be here.’

Chris Cowpe, the agency’s joint managing director, who has worked alone

on BMP’s new business until now, said: ‘We are throwing more resources

into new business, and I was keen to get a fresh perspective on the

agency. David has the perfect mix of account-handling experience and

success in generating new clients.’

Before joining CDP, Kean spent two years at Simons Palmer Denton Clemmow

and Johnson, where he helped to secure the agency a place on the IDV

roster, bringing in the Drambuie and Gonzales Byass accounts.

He originally moved to Simons Palmer to work on the BT and Telemillion

accounts, and later shifted to a new-business role. Before that, he was

at Lowe Howard-Spink, where he worked on accounts including Irn-Bru and

Kean joined Lowes from Allen Brady and Marsh, where he worked on Tango
