Brave Films has taken on its first new director since it launched a year
ago with the signing of Alek Keshishian, the director of the feature
length documentary, In Bed with Madonna.
The founding partners of Brave, Michelle Stapleton and Emily Bliss, plan
to sell their new signing primarily as a director for beauty and perfume
Keshishian has in the past directed a commercial for Coca-Cola, ‘always
after midnight,’ which was aired in France. He also directed a Hollywood
film called With Honors last year.
The director studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, Harvard University and
the New York University film school. Within a year of graduation he was
represented by the Creative Artists Agency.
Keshishian joins a roster of three directors at Brave. His stablemates
are Alex Winter, Howard Greenhalgh and Lucy Blakstad.
Stapleton stressed, however, that Brave will remain a small company. She
said: ‘Each of our directors has an individual style.’
Brave Films, which has backing from the long-established Rose Hackney
Barber, was started in January 1995.
