Reuters, the news and information giant, this week announced the launch

of a specialist online media news service in conjunction with Campaign,

Variety and the US ad trade weeklies, Advertising Age and Inside Media.

The service, called Advertising and Media Briefing, is said to be the

first online service to offer real-time news to the advertising, media

and entertainment industries. In addition to specialist contributors

such as Campaign and Advertising Age, Reuters is also putting its own

dedicated editors on to the system operating from London, New York and

Los Angeles.

The service will give users access to material from specialist

publications as well as Reuters’ general news database, which draws on

more than 2,400 publications worldwide. News pictures and company

financial reports are also available as part of the service.

Reuters is aiming the facility at senior corporate managers, account

staff, media buyers and media owners, brand managers and new-business

executives. The service is priced at a flat monthly fee, rather than a

‘per use’ charge.

Mark Wood, executive director of Reuters, said: ‘For the first time,

people in the advertising and media world will be able to see breaking

news of importance to their business. They will also have quick and easy

access to one of the best databases of specialist information.’

Dominic Mills, editorial director of Campaign, added: ‘We have always

wanted to develop beyond a weekly magazine. Providing Reuters with

electronic daily news on a real-time basis is ideal. If you’re going to

do this, there is no better partner than a global communications company

like Reuters.’

1 Why creative people have lost their way

What better way to kick off the inaugural issue of Campaign's monthly print offering than with another think piece on the current failings of our industry, written by an embittered, pretentious creative who misses "the way things used to be"...
