Collett Dickenson Pearce has poached Saatchi and Saatchi’s management

supervisor, Chris Macleod, to become one of its two new deputy managing

directors.

Macleod will work alongside Simon Myers, who has been promoted from

within CDP to be the other deputy managing director, to handle the day-

to-day running of the agency. The former deputy managing director, Marc

Lepere, moves up to vice- chairman to take on a more strategic and

planning role.

The appointments follow the elevation of CDP’s managing director, Ben

Langdon, to the post of chief executive at the end of last year

(Campaign, 17 November 1995).

Macleod, who was deputy managing director of Laing Henry before it

folded into Saatchis last year, said he was looking forward to returning

to general management: ‘I was in a management role at Laing Henry, and

that role of combining general management and account handling is one

that I like.’

Macleod began his agency career at Leagas Delaney, but moved over to

Saatchis in the late 80s. From there he joined Laing Henry, only to move

back to Saatchis when the two agencies merged last year. He was

responsible for the Metropolitan Police, Gillette and Health Education

Authority accounts.

Myers has been with CDP for 18 months, having joined from Simons Palmer

Denton Clemmow and Johnson. Before that, he spent five years in account

management at GGT.

At the same time, Johnny Hornby, a Campaign Face to Watch last year,

moves up to become head of account management.

Simon North will be his deputy, moving up from the position of account

director.

1 Why creative people have lost their way

What better way to kick off Campaign's relaunch than with another think piece on the current failings of our industry, written by an embittered, pretentious creative who misses "the way things used to be"...
