Walt Disney is set to become the first client to figure on the rosters

of both Saatchi and Saatchi and Maurice Saatchi’s breakaway shop, M&C

Saatchi.

M&C Saatchi would make no comment, but is understood to have been chosen

to speed up the pace of growth of Disney stores across Europe, a pan-

European task backed by a pounds 10 million budget, between pounds 2 and

pounds 3 million of which is likely to be spent in the UK.

Media plans have yet to be finalised, but BBJ Media Services is also

tipped to add Disney stores to the Disney Buena Vista video business

that it already handles.

Disney has been a client of the Charlotte Street agency since November

1994, when it was appointed to the pounds 5 million task of advertising

its resorts in Florida and California as package-holiday attractions for

British families.

The decision to appoint M&C Saatchi to the Disney stores business

without a pitch is understood to be the result of the relationship

between the agency’s senior managers and Peter Morris, the former Dixons

joint deputy managing director, who became the managing director for

Disney stores in Europe last summer.
