NEWS: Doran accepts European media role at APL

Ammirati Puris Lintas has bolstered its European media operation by

appointing Marie Therese Doran as group media director.

The appointment, which is the most senior made to date by Graeme Hutton,

the recently appointed European media director, gives Doran a key role

in the European media team. Doran was most recently the head of the

Kellogg’s media account at Leo Burnett.

Hutton said that Doran would work alongside him in driving Lintas’s

European media strategies and developing new products that can work

across all of the agency’s European offices.

‘MT has an excellent track record and I think we can rightly say that

she represents quite a coup for us,’ he said.

Before joining Burnetts, Doran was a senior media planner at Ogilvy and

Mather, working on Ford, Guinness and Microsoft. She is also a previous

IPA Grand Prix award winner.

At Lintas, Doran will work on the Unilever account, specifically on ice-

cream and frozen food, as well as Lever Brothers’ Skip and Sun brands

and Johnson and Johnson’s Vistakom range.

Doran, who joins Lintas this week, said that she was attracted to the

post because ‘it’s rare to find a company that’s genuinely committed to

making things better in the way that Lintas is’.

Hutton has also signed up Katherine Bieber, formerly at the Network

Europe. ‘MT and Katherine complete the number of general media

strategists I need,’ Hutton said. ‘The next step is to bring in some

media specialists to work in IT, database management and new media.’

Hutton took over as European media director at Lintas in April, joining

the company from CIA Medianetwork where he was European development

director. His brief is to provide a co-ordinating link between each of

the local media directors around Europe and streamline the agency’s

media approach.
