NEWS: Dorlands poised to pick up pounds 1.4m brief for Dockland group

The London Docklands Development Corporation is poised to appoint Bates Dorland as the agency on its pounds 1.4 million account.

The London Docklands Development Corporation is poised to appoint Bates

Dorland as the agency on its pounds 1.4 million account.

The account will return to Graham Hinton, the chairman of Dorlands, who

joined the agency earlier this year after his split with DMB&B, the

incumbent on the business.

It was during Hinton’s time at DMB&B that the agency produced its

national press campaign under the theme of ‘Be a docker, not a knocker’.

Peter Mead, the Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO joint-chairman, who is acting

as advertising consultant to the corporation, was unavailable for

comment as Campaign went to press. But industry sources say that

Dorlands is the preferred choice, ahead of Walsh Trott Chick Smith, GGT

and DMB&B.

The agency’s brief will be to sustain the corporation’s marketing

activity during the final phase of its life before it is wound up in

1998.
