Kathryn Jacob, the former agency sales director at IPC Magazines who quit last August, has emerged to fill the post of sales director at Virgin Radio.

Kathryn Jacob, the former agency sales director at IPC Magazines who

quit last August, has emerged to fill the post of sales director at

Virgin Radio.

The announcement was made to Virgin staff last Friday. The head of

sales, John Quinn, immediately handed in his notice.

Jacob’s brief is to expand the Virgin sales operation beyond spot sales

and sponsorships into other areas.

Lee Roberts, who has been promoted to sales manager from the business

development unit, will work alongside the existing sales manager, Louise

Webb. Alex Ward, formerly a senior executive, has been promoted to film

and music manager, while Steve Taylor, formerly promotions executive,

becomes head of promotions.

Jacob said: ‘I will be building on Virgin’s success and moving it on to

the next stage. The medium has done enormously well, but it needs to

pull people in who can bring something different to the way it’s sold.’
