J. Walter Thompson has appointed Kevin Duncan, Lowe Howard-Spink’s head
of account management, as a senior board account director.
Duncan, 34, will join JWT at the beginning of June in a role yet to be
Dominic Proctor, the chief executive of JWT, explained: ‘We have some
extremely ambitious growth plans for this agency and therefore when
someone of Kevin’s experience and talent comes on to the market you grab
them while you can.’
Duncan’s responsibilities as head of account management at Lowes have
beenÿ20taken by Marc Cave, who was recently promoted to deputy managing
director (Campaign, 19 January).
Duncan said: ‘I see eye-to-eye with Stephen [Carter, JWT’s managing
director], Jaspar [Shelbourne, JWT’s executive creative director] and
Dominic. They believe in giving the best commercial advice to clients,
as well as outstanding creativity. Those are my sentiments exactly.’
He continued: ‘Five years is a good chunk of time at one agency. It was
fantastic to be associated with the best creative minds in the business,
but I have been looking for a new challenge.’
Duncan was recruited to Lowes by the then managing director, David
Wheldon, in 1991, originally as a board account director. Two years ago,
he was promoted to head of account management.
He started in the ad industry in 1982 as a trainee at Benton and Bowles.
Duncan then moved to Boase Massimi Pollitt in 1983.
In 1986, he joined Yellowhammer and worked on its Central Office of
Information business. Duncan joined Woollams Moira Gaskin O’Malley at
its launch in 1988 and established its account management department, as
well as heading accounts such as Virgin Atlantic and Norwich Union.
