NEWS: Kitching returns to UK for Mirror Group marketing position

Andrew Kitching, the former News International promotions director, is to join Mirror Group Newspapers as the managing director of marketing in August.

Andrew Kitching, the former News International promotions director, is

to join Mirror Group Newspapers as the managing director of marketing in

August.

The appointment of Kitching, predicted by Campaign in May, was confirmed

earlier this week, and comes almost two months after the departure of

his predecessor, Charles Kirchner.

Kirchner resigned after a six-month stint in the role of Mirror Group’s

brand development director (Campaign, 24 May). He had been made the

marketing director designate before his departure.

Kitching is returning to the UK after nearly two years in the US, where

he held the post of vice-president, marketing, at the New York Daily

News.

MGN’s spokesman, Nick Fullagar, commented: ‘Andrew will be responsible

for the promotions, marketing and brand development of all Mirror Group

titles.’

Kitching will report directly to David Montgomery, Mirror Group’s chief

executive, and will operate at the same level within the company as the

newspaper managing directors: Bridget Rowe at the Sunday Mirror and

People, Colin Myler at the Daily Mirror and Amanda Platell at the

Independent.
