New PHD has poached Jon Wilkins, BMP DDB’s media strategy director, to take charge of its new creative communications unit.

New PHD has poached Jon Wilkins, BMP DDB’s media strategy director, to

take charge of its new creative communications unit.



Wilkins, who takes up his position next month, becomes the 13th board

director at New PHD and joins a three-strong unit with a brief to work

across the client base.



‘There are very few people who have any credentials in this area at

all,’ Jonathan Durden, a partner at New PHD, commented. ‘We are

delighted to have attracted someone of Jon’s ability and with his strong

qualitative research background.’



He added: ‘The job of the creative communications department is to

inject short bursts of energy at key moments, and to try to encourage

people across the company to come up with imaginative solutions. That

was the USP of Pattison Horswell Durden and this unit will try to help

us achieve that standard on a larger scale.’



Wilkins began his career as a research executive at Granada Television

and progressed through spells at MTV Europe and Disney’s film

distribution arm, Buena Vista International, before joining the then BMP

DDB Needham as media research manager.



Wilkins said: ‘What is especially attractive about the position is that

we will be encouraged to work with all the disparate parts of Abbott

Mead Vickers BBDO [New PHD’s parent]. Plus there’s a real buzz about New

PHD.’
