Emap Metro has taken the unprecedented step of appointing a planning

director across its portfolio of men’s and style titles in order to

provide agencies with a better service.

Steve Newbould, formerly the publisher of Emap Metro’s style titles, FHM

magazine and Sky, steps into the new role. He will provide a mixture of

planning, new business, sales, information and general support.

Newbould will liaise directly with research personnel, account planners

and buyers, group heads and media directors within agencies on Emap’s

men’s magazines and style titles.

‘The men’s market has changed dramatically and agencies want to know

more about the sector. Given our range of titles, we are in a perfect

position to help. We have to get in at an early stage when agencies are

deciding what sort of media to use,’ he said.

Bill Kinlay, media director at the Network, said: ‘As the market grows

it’s important to have someone who can talk across the board and sell

the sector.’
