Katrina Michel, Ogilvy and Mather’s new-business director, has been
promoted to the expanded role of new-business director of Ogilvy and
Michel, who returns from maternity leave this week, will report directly
to Mike Walsh, O&M Europe’s chief executive. She will be responsible for
developing and executing an overall new-business strategy for the
European network, while also giving support to the local offices.
Walsh said the post had been created to accelerate the momentum of O&M’s
recent successes in new business at a regional level. Wins in the past
18 months include KFC, Alitalia, SmithKline Beecham, PepsiCo’s 7-Up and
Michel continues to be in overall charge of O&M London’s new-business
department and will be supported by the new-business deputy, Tom Vick.
Walsh said: ‘At a time when more and more of our existing and
prospective clients are organising their advertising at a regional
level, it is essential that we have a dedicated resource that can track
their business and spot the opportunities for O&M. Katrina’s successful
record in London makes her the ideal choice to lead and manage this
Michel commented: ‘I took on this job because O&M has one of the best
and most mature European networks. I am not going to be concentrating on
extending relationships with existing clients but on new new-business. I
want to concentrate on a small number of big initiatives.’
Michel was promoted to head of new business after three years as a
senior planner. Her main clients were Ford of Britain and Kimberly-
Clark. Before joining O&M Michel was a planning director at Publicis.
