Ogilvy and Mather has promoted two of its account directors, Neil Quick
and Paul Cowan, to business directors.
Quick and Cowan will share some of the responsibilities of O&M’s former
business director, Angus Fraser, who left last month to take a post with
O&M Network in the Far East.
In their new roles, Quick and Cowan will each be in charge of a group of
O&M’s top accounts. Quick’s portfolio will include Draught Guinness,
Birds Eye and Wilson Sporting Goods. Cowan will be responsible for
Guinness Draught Bitter and Lucozade, in the UK and internationally.
Quick, 33, has been with O&M for more than ten years. He first joined in
1985 as a media planner, and left to go travelling after he was promoted
to group head in charge of media planning on Guinness.
Quick rejoined O&M on his return, in 1991, as an account handler and has
worked on Guinness for four years.
Cowan, who is 31, joined in 1991 after nearly five years at Cogent,
where he worked on Do It All. Since joining O&M Cowan has worked on the
Argos, Kraft and SmithKline Beecham accounts, among others.
Eddie Bowman, the head of account management at O&M, said: ‘Both Neil
and Paul know how to build long-term relationships with clients and both
are advocates of producing really good creative work.
‘I’m interested in getting people who lead their accounts rather than
just co-ordinating them. They lead.’
