Oasis Villages - a company set up by the Rank Organisation to challenge

the phenomenally successful Scottish Courage-owned Center Parcs - is

searching for an agency to help launch its new chain of all-weather

holiday villages.

Oasis has already seen five agencies about its estimated pounds 2

million to pounds 3 million advertising account, and is understood to

have shortlisted three for strategic and creative pitches next month.

The Oasis marketing manager, Simon Goldsmith, confirmed the review, but

declined to give further details.

Oasis Villages plans to open its first pounds 100 million site at

Whinfell near Penrith in Cumbria for spring 1997, with a launch campaign

scheduled for this autumn. The selection of an agency is expected by

the end of March.

Rank already runs other holiday businesses, such as Butlins, but these

mainly attract the C1 and C2 socio-economic groups. With Oasis Villages,

it hopes to crack the ABC1 holiday market.
