Optimedia has launched a new standalone interactive division called

Optimedia Interactive amid plans to announce a joint venture aimed at

developing the Interactive brand still further.

The new unit aims to offer a project management and consultancy service

for all Optimedia clients, as well as third-party contacts.

In the short term, Optimedia Interactive will be headed by Optimedia’s

head of research, Abbie Rawson, and will consist of three other

Optimedia staffers. However, once the joint venture with an undisclosed

third party is finalised, a new head of operations will be announced.

The new division has been operating informally, but the formal unveiling

will coincide with the launch of a new British Airways site on the World

Wide Web.

Optimedia has been working closely with BA in the development of its

Internet site to ensure it is integrated into the airline’s other

communications and media activities.

Optimedia’s chairman, Simon Lloyd, said: ‘The Internet is a medium which

calls for a close involvement of both mainline media and creative

skills, in addition to the obvious technical expertise.’
