It is restructuring its in-house media department before relaunching it

this summer under a new name as a media dependant.



Richard Lewis, Poulters’ managing director, said: ‘We see the North-east

as a fertile hunting ground for media business and we don’t intend to

restrict ourselves to our own side of the Pennines.’



The new venture will allow the Leeds shop to fight for media-only

business against the area’s biggest media independent, Dixon Moutrie

Silkstone, as well as CIA Media Solutions and TMD Carat in Manchester.



‘There’s a lot of media-only business available from the Midlands to

Scotland which isn’t being looked after very well by the established

media independents,’ Lewis added.



‘A lot of our full-service business has been built from a sound

strategic base which we can extend into media-only accounts.’



Lewis will be chief executive of the new operation, which will be headed

by Mandy Sheldrake, Poulters’ media director, when she returns from

maternity leave.



The ten-strong operation, which expects to increase its staff by a third

in advance of the relaunch, will be augmented later this month by Steve

Blakeman, currently the deputy media director of Brahm, who will be head

of press.



Lewis said that the agency, which claims gross media billings of pounds

29 million, was expecting to announce two pieces of substantial media-

only business within the next fortnight.
