Mellors Reay and Partners is extending its senior team with the

appointment of Paul Richards, the Leagas Shafron Davis client services

director, as managing director.

Richards, 37, will join Mellors Reay within the next three months to

take control of its internal organisation and allow Carol Reay and Tim

Mellors, the agency’s principals, to build business and develop its

profile.

Richards will take over the role of managing director from Reay, who

will retain the title of chief executive.

At the same time, Chris King, the deputy managing director, becomes

vice-chairman while retaining responsibility for the development of the

agency’s Procter and Gamble and pan-European business.

Richards’ arrival marks the first significant dilution of management

responsibilities since the agency re-emerged at the beginning of last

year from the former Reay Keating Hamer under the Grey group umbrella.

It also revives the professional relationship between Richards and Tim

Mellors, who was creative director at Publicis when Richards was group

account director on Renault, Harp lager, KP snacks and Shell oils.

Richards commented: ‘Mellors Reay is a unique opportunity for me.’
