The veteran copywriter, Sean Toal, has signed up with WCRS for what will
be his second stint at the agency.
Toal, who has a D&AD silver for Mr Tom confectionery and a silver Cannes
lion for Hamlet’s ‘sale’ ad to his name, first worked for WCRS in the
mid-80s when Andrew Cracknell was the agency’s creative director. The
move will reunite him with Larry Barker and Rooney Carruthers, WCRS’s
joint creative directors, with whom he worked at BMP DDB.
Toal, 35, will partner Andy Dibbs and work across a range of accounts.
He replaces Mark Cooper who left to join BMP last month (Campaign, 28
‘I’ve always liked WCRS - it has such a wide range of clients - and the
chance of working with Andy was also a major lure,’ Toal explained. He
joined last week after a short period freelancing for the agency.
Toal started his career at BMP after gaining a diploma in advertising
from Ealing Technical College. From BMP he moved to Leagas Delaney and
then on to his first spell at the then Wight Collins Rutherford Scott.
Over the next few years he worked at BMP, Collett Dickenson Pearce,
where he devised the award-winning ads for Hamlet and Mr Tom, Woollams
Moira Gaskin O’Malley and finally TBWA, before leaving to go freelance
earlier this year.
